Bring structured training into your production

Training in textured hair has historically been inconsistent across the performing arts, with many professionals entering the industry without the skills or confidence required to work across all hair types, not due to a lack of ability, but a lack of access to proper training. For performers, this can result in discomfort, reduced confidence, and in some cases the need to manage their own care within professional environments, while for hair and makeup professionals it creates pressure to deliver without being properly trained or supported. Levelling Up exists to address this gap through structured, practical education that supports both performers and professionals.

Who It’s For & Impact

Levelling Up works with hair and makeup professionals, production teams, theatres and institutions, as well as schools, training environments, and both early-career and established practitioners. Each group benefits differently, but the outcome remains consistent: better preparation, greater confidence, and improved professional standards.

Our work has supported professionals across leading productions and institutions within theatre and performance. Participants consistently report increased confidence and improved practice, with training designed to be hands-on from the outset, including working with models and real scenarios supported by facilitator-led guidance.

Many go on to implement changes in their workflow, from consulting with performers in advance to applying textured hair techniques in practice and continuing to develop their skills beyond the sessions.
